Why we recommend it

Built to withstand salt air

This is the long-lens version of Hikvision's anti-corrosion bullet camera: instead of the 2.7–13.5 mm lens, it carries a motorized 7 to 35 mm lens to watch distant spots, such as the end of a pier, the entrance of a gated community or the far side of a large yard. You adjust zoom and focus from the app; at its tightest setting it detects up to 400 meters and identifies a person up to 40 meters, according to the manufacturer's DORI table.

Its body is anti-corrosion polymer, Hikvision's highest protection level, meant for coastlines, docks and chemical plants. At night it chooses between infrared or white light up to 50 meters, with full-color video thanks to ColorVu. It has a built-in microphone, 130 dB WDR for backlit scenes, IP68 and IK10 vandal-resistant protection. It runs on PoE or 12 V, records to a microSD card up to 1 TB and includes its DS-1280ZJ-DM46-428C-Y junction box.
