Why we recommend it

What it does

It is a complete kit for building a physical ground: the point where the electrical installation sends any overvoltage into the earth. Without a ground, surge protectors have nowhere to send the energy and the recorder, power supplies and cameras stay exposed. The kit includes the electrode with built-in filter, the coupler, an 11 kg bag of H2Ohm compound, and a compass and level.

It is rated at 45 A and made to protect the whole system from electrical surges. An electrician or the camera installer puts it in, usually in the yard or in a pit near the equipment room. If you are investing in PoE or power-line protectors, it pays to give them a proper ground to discharge into.
