What it does

It is a wall arm for Hikvision 120 mm mini domes (DS-2CD25xx, DS-2CD71xx and DS-2CS5xA1P series). A dome is designed to go on a ceiling; when all you have is a wall, this mount holds it away from the wall in the same position it would have on a ceiling, so the camera looks straight at the area you care about instead of sideways against the wall.

You need it when the camera goes on a facade, a hallway with no ceiling panel or a tall wall and there is nowhere to mount it facing down. Check your camera's datasheet lists this mount as compatible, since it is made for those series. It is an installation accessory: the camera is sold separately.
